At Winds of Change, we offer several aesthetic skin care treatments. Aging skin can make you look older than you feel. It's never too early or too late to turn back the hands of time.

Our trained staff expertly performs these skin care treatments. Working with Dr. Sumpter, our staff, including licensed paramedial aesthetician Tasha Picciarelli, carefully selects the skin care lines and products that we carry.

In 2008, we introduced our own skin care line - Winds of Change True U. We also carry Jan Marini, Obagi and Jane Iredale mineral makeup.

These treatments and skin care products are carefull customized to your specific skin type and address your particular concerns.

Some common skin concerns are:

• Fine lines, wrinkles and sagging
• Pigmentation problems, freckling, age spots and uneven skin tone

• Medical Microdermabrasion - with state-of-the-art crystal-free technology, this is a safe and gentle resurfacing therapy administered by a Medical Aesthetician that removes dead skin cells and stimulates the production of new cells and skin firming collagen. This rapid exfoliant is designed to reduce fine lines, refine pores and lighten hyperpigmentation and scars. A customized masque and massage is included. A series of six to eight treatments is recommended for best results. We have several patients that have these treatments on a monthly basis. The result is skin that is smoother and more uniform in appearance. Microdermabrasion can help minimize wrinkles, scars, sun damage and active acne. That youthful glow can be recaptured from dull, lifeless skin with microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion can be utilized on the face, hands, chest, shoulders or back. A treatment takes a half hour with virtually no down time.

• Chemical Peels - with a targeted, controlled chemical process the skin can be revitalized in just one session. Chemical peels help to remove dead skin cells while simultaneously stimulating new skin cells to develop. The process has been used for years and can help improve fine lines and wrinkles, sun damaged skin or age spot and some shallow scars. Chemical peels can be performed on the face, chest, hands, arms or legs and come in various concentrations. Those patients with minor issues may only require a light chemical peeling process that results in minor skin irritation that resolves in two to three days. Each session is tailor made for the patient with a range of acidic levels safely used with recovery times correlating directly with the depth of the peel. Depending upon the desired result, the patient may choose between a full or partial peel (denoting either the full face or specifically targeted areas).
  • Pure Glycolic Facial Peel - this treatment uses pharmaceutical-grade glycolic acid that allows deep penetration and helps achieve dramatic improvement in epidermal texture. Lessening of superficial lines and hyperpigmentation produce a healthier, more youthful look and feel. This corrective treatment includes a therapeutic massage and a customized masque suited to your skin type. Best results are achieved in a series followed with an easy maintenance program.

  • TCA Peels - using 30% trichloroaceticic acid, this is deeper than most superficial peels discussed in the menu. Because this treatment is more intense, patients may experience redness and peeling for up to a week and should be very careful of sun exposure during that period. The skin is completely healed in 10 to 14 days. The result is a healthy, radiant glow with less wrinkles, blemishes and pigmentation irregularities.

  • Obagi Blue Peel - an innovation for restoring healthy and more beautiful skin. A slow-acting solution removes dead skin cells and stimulates the production of new skin cells. The slow action enables greater control of the peel process and its depth. It effectively improves fine lines, wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, shallow acne-scars, sun-damaged skin, freckling and tightens the skin. Obagi Blue Peels can be performed on the face, neck, chest, hands, arms and legs.

• Medical Facials
  • High Performance Facial - result-oriented facial that utilizes physician-strength products and aromatherapy to target specific skin concerns from aging to acne. This treatment starts with a deep cleansing, micro-exfoliation, towel steaming and a customized masque suited for your skin type. A therapeutic massage will ease your mind and revitalize your skin!

  • Acne Power Facial - smooth, clear skin results from a deep pore cleansing using advanced skin care products, towel steaming to decongest skin with anti-bacterial exfoliant and gentle extractions followed by a restorative masque. A purifying facial that will decongest and revitalize you skin, this facial can be used in combination with Medical Microdermabrasion or a Chemical Peel to enhance results.

  • "Damage Control" Dual-Peeling Facial - the ultimate skin corrective facial! The combination of Medical Microdermabrasion and Lactic Peel in one allows for deeper penetration of product to turn back the hands of time. This combination offers intense stimulation in the deepest layers of the skin to beautifully revitalize the complexion. It delivers flawless, radiant skin from within for striking and immediately visible results. Can be used on face, neck chest and hands. Best results are seen after a series of six.

• Overall Skin Care - we are pleased to offer a range of skin care products at Winds of Change. The office carries our own True U and Obagi products among others. These product lines were chosen because of their consistency and results. Both have used many of these for years. The range of products available gives everyone options that will benefit them, regardless of skin tone and type. These products are a big part of proactive skin care. They provide healthy, youthful skin today and tomorrow. They work to help improve fine lines and wrinkles; and provide continuous moisturization with the ever-important sunscreen protection. They can also be used to assist the elimination of adult acne breakouts and help unclog pores that lead to blackheads. Use of these products is similar to giving yourself a fine chemical peel every time.

• Aesthetic Laser Treatments - please visit the laser procedures page on our site to find out more about how our new IPL laser can rejuvenate your skin, help you with fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, sun damage, hair removal and spider veins.

• Tinting - using a safe, hypoallergenic vegetable dye eyelashes and eyebrows can be tinted to bring out your eyes. Results usually last three to six weeks.
