HOUSTON - Dr. Kristi Sumpter and Winds of Change Cosmetic Surgery Specialists announced today that the practice is offering free breast examinations during the month of October in honor of the 19th annual National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Uniquely qualified to treat breast cancer patients because of her extensive training in general and cosmetic surgery, Dr. Sumpter is able to provide care for patients from the diagnosis to surgical treatment to cosmetic reconstruction. Her experience has made her keenly aware of the emotional impact breast cancer has on its carriers.
"Breast cancer can be emotionally and psychologically devastating to a woman. It may deeply affect a woman's self image. As with any disease, early detection is the best way to overcome breast cancer," said Dr. Sumpter. "We have decided to offer this to women in the Houston Area in keeping with the spirit of the month."
Approximately 211,300 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003. Due to early detection, there has been a slight but steady decrease in deaths from breast cancer since Breast Cancer Awareness Month began in 1985.
Those interested in a free breast exam should call 281-894-9990 in advance for an appointment.
Winds of Change Cosmetic Surgery Specialists was founded by Dr. Kristi Sumpter. The practice provides a comfortable, positive setting while offering responsible, compassionate care for women and men interested in cosmetic surgery procedures and treatments.
